Cops tell Twitter to delete Raj Thackeray’s daughter’s fake account

MUMBAI: Two days after a police complaint was lodged regarding fake Twitter accounts being created in the name of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray’s daughter, the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell of the city police has written to Twitter and other social networking sites, asking them to delete the fake accounts.

A police officer said they have written to the websites concerned, asking them to block the accounts. It will be done soon, said this officer.

Party leaders said the accounts were fake. “No one from Raj Thackeray’s family is on any social networking site,” said the party leader. The fake accounts were used to post defamatory remarks about various political leaders and organizations.

The account was also linked to another account in the name of Raj Thackeray’s son, Amit. This account also featured the photo of Amit’s cousin, Aditya, son of Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.
