A team of hackers is being hired to test the robustness of more than 20 major banks’ online security systems.

The ‘ethical hacking’ exercise will be overseen by the Bank of England, reports the FT.

The banking sector carried rehearsed how they would respond to a major cyber attack last year, but this is the first time individual institutions will be put to the test. The paper reported that Royal Bank of Scotland is thought to be one of the banks with the London Stock Exchange also taking part in the exercise.
