Avira Launches Unified Security Management Dashboard

Online Essentials deploys installation of Avira products across devices

On Wednesday, Avira launched Online Essentials, a new platform that allows deployment of the installation procedure for the company products. The service works for all supported computer devices and also includes smartphones and tablets (iOS and Android).

Online Essentials (codenamed My Avira) unifies management of the Avira security products (Antivirus and Anti-Theft for mobile devices), Secure Backup data synchronization service, and Pilot, a new remote support tool in a web dashboard.

Users have to register for the service (free of charge) and then they can use the online console to send the download links to the desired devices. On phones, access to the download link is done through an SMS sent to the handset, while on the other devices the URL is sent via email.

According to the company’s statement, the products are managed “as if they were services that can be toggled on or off.”

“Managing and ensuring their security is up to date is a challenge most users have. Avira Online Essentials is a platform we developed to address this challenge and make security as easy as possible to implement and manage across all the devices a customer owns,” said Travis Witteveen, CEO of Avira.

At the moment, the service is available in English and German only, with other languages to be rolled out over the next months. Also, it will be integrated with every Avira product download.
